How do I get a head start on college? I’m going to be stuck in high school for 2 more years.?

Hello, I would like to say first that I am very academically precocious. I thrive in knowledge and I love learning. I am doing very well in school to extent where it is becoming monotonous, boring, and redundant. My teachers do not understand that and they expect me to sit in their classes numbly while they explain topics that my peers do not understand but I already know about.

I also do not get along with my peers due to my maturity and goals that are directed towards my future. I have big ambitions for myself and I am not going to let anybody take me down. I am also a bit older than most of my peers, so that takes into account the maturity contrast between them and me.

So you see my dilemma here, I’m currently a sophomore who has trudged miserably through two years already. I know I have two more years left because my school absolutely WILL NOT let me graduate early. They are so against it and I have forsaken the plan because I will receive no help from them at all.

I want to get a head start on college. I want to reach my potential and learn about topics that interest and excite me. In other words, I want to go to college right now and take college classes but still stay at my high school because they will not let me graduate early.

I know community college is an option, but how do I know what classes to take so I get an early start on college? Also, my family is not rich and my college fund barely accounts for anything. I will need a scholarship from college, but it will most likely not encompass all my college education. So since my high school will NOT let me graduate early, is there any way I can save a year of college and take my senior year of high school AND a year of college classes simultaneously so I can graduate college one year early and save money?

What I’m trying to say is this: I can achieve so much more right now, but my school is not pushing me. I have fought to graduate one year early, but my school will absolutely not allow me. So I have come to my last alternative: I will be miserable for 2 years until I go to college. But is there any, ANY ANY ANY way to get a head start on college and take classes that excite me? Thank you.

You need a certain number of credits to graduate from high school. If you earn those in less than 4 years, they can’t stop you from graduating early. If you don’t, they can’t do anything to allow you to graduate early. Find out if your high school has a dual-enrollment program so you can take classes for free at a local college and have them count towards your high school and future college degrees. If they do, great, sign up for a few courses. If not, you’ll have to do some work to get the high school to accept the credits or it will take you even longer to graduate. Almost no one can afford to pay for college – apply for scholarships and take out loans like everyone else. Advisers at community college can tell you which classes will transfer to colleges and universities, and which ones you’re likely to need. Or just drop out and take the GED.
