how do i convert to Islam?i’m 18,hindu,believe in Allah,and in love with a Muslim…?

i have not told my boyfriend yet that i am willing to convert.it’s not just for him,i really do believe in the one god.but he will most probably get very mad at me if i tell him that i wish to convert,he will think i’m only doing it for him.he doesn’t really like it when i try hard to learn about his religion,he doesn’t want to be the reason for such a huge change in my life (esp since it’s going to take me away from my own hindu family)…but i honestly want to be a Muslim. and i hopr his family accepts me.i love him,coz he showed me Islam..please advise me a little

If there is a nearby Masjid (Muslim’s place of worship) go talk to some reliable, or evn talk to your boyfriend, explain you want to learn, how could it be so wrong?

Firstly I advise you to read up about Islam, realize the beauty of it!

Once you do talk to somebody at the masjid or reliable you will have to take your SHAHADA, which consists of:

Ash-hadu anla ilaha illal-Lahu Wahdahu la Sharika Lahu wa-ash-hadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu

I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, the One, without any partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.

The declaration of faith consists of two distinct parts, i.e., the absolute belief in the Unity of Allah (God) and the belief in the Holy Prophet Muhammad as a mortal human being and the Messenger of Allah.

    *Just shakes his head*

If you believe in Allah… then by definition you are no longer Hindu. For what it is worth though, that still doesn’t apparently make you an official Muslim, but you are most of the way there if you’ve accepted Allah as the one and only god.

I don’t personally approve of what you’re doing, but honestly it isn’t my business to disagree.
If you really want to know…. drop by the nearest mosque and speak to an Imam or somesuch. Or of course just read the Qu’ran. Isn’t that the answer to all Muslim questions?

Fair enough, just make sure your certain that the reason you want to become a Muslim is because you love Allah and not because of your boyfriend, only when you know for sure should you go ahead with it

you have to think about it very carefully, not only for your family, but for you; do you truly know your own religion so well as to discard it so easily? Try to see if the god of Islam in the end is truly something different of Brahma.
I think your boyfriend is correct and very mature. Follow his suggestions.

I think there are still a few days left in Ramadan. Try the Ramadan-fast to see if you can handle it (no water or food, sunup to sundown). Also stop eating pork and drinking alcohol, if you do either of those things. Then RESEARCH Islam. Start by Googling "Wikipedia Islam" and read the Wiki’s article on it. Conversion is actually easy (You say "There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is his Prophet" in front of some Muslim witnesses) but I would advise you do put in some time learning about the religion before you take that step.

You say that your boy friend showed you Islam. Your infatuation to your bf might now make you believe everything he tells and eveiry thng he shows as really good and nice.
But there is no guarantee that these would continue after your marriage, as it has happened in many cases in the past.
Dont be under the impression that since you are a major, you could arrive at unerring decisions in life.
A Hindu girl has to respect her parents prior to worshipping her God.Have you ever thought what would befall on your parents who have brought you up?Are you fair to your parents and your community?
Tell your bf to search for a bride for himself in his own community and seek pardon of your parents.
Further, at a time when inter-communal marriages are causing social tensions, you should not be a party to it.

anyone can convert to islam. what you have to say is: ashaduana lailaha ilala wa ashaduana muhamad arasululah. it means i bear witness that there is no god but allah and that muhammad is his messenger. But just by saying that it doesnt mean that that is it. you have to practice as a muslim as well.(eg: pray, fast in ramadan,) if you want to know how, then just message me and ill tell you. well hope this helps.

all your previous sins are forgiven and you start with a clean slate…….I do have to tell you though, that it’s a sin to have a bf that your not engaged to so pls take into consideration and life will inshallah (god willing ) be different in a great way, but you’ll have to practice the faith. remember that even the "muslims" are non belivers unless they pray.that is the only thing to distinguish us from everyone else. e mail if you want with any ?

I am a convert and hopefully I can help! To become Muslim, the only thing you have to do is say

"I bear witness that there is no diety worthy of worship other than Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is a messenger of Allah" or in Arabic "Ash-hadoo an la elaha il Allah, wa anna ash-hadoo an Muhammad ar rasool-Allah"

say that 3 times, and that is it!

It is good if you can do it with a ‘witness’ but it is not necessary as this is between you and God. A friend of mine did it in her kitchen! LOL. Once you have said it, eventually try to get in contact with a mosque. Even just ask a few of the sisters for help, I pray they will be of some help! It is easy to convert to Islam, but we definitely need support after conversion. Hopefully the more you attend the mosque, the more sisters you will meet! :)

As for anything else, the best thing to do is to learn how to pray. You dont have to say it in Arabic at first, just when you eventually learn how to say it in Arabicm you should. Here is a good site detailing the prayer and the ritual washing before it:

    http://english.islamway.com/flashpage.ph... (washing)
    http://english.islamway.com/flashpage.ph... (prayer)

About sunni and shi’a, I am sunni (salafi) personally. We actually love Ali, just believe that the caliphate was voted by the majority, and that is how history went — thats the difference in essence I guess. Dont worry about that now hun, the best thing to do is pray.

    Congratulations (mabrook in arabic)!

Kalki Autar = Hindu authentic book = Talks about prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Pundit Vedaprakash Upadhyay, a Hindu professor, in his stunning book claims that the description of the" Avatar" found in the Holy books of the Hindu religion, matches the Holy Prophet Mohammed (PUBH). Recently in India, a fact-revealing book has been published. The Book has been the topic of discussion and gossip all over the country. The author of this book, Pundit Vedaprakash Upadhyay, is a learned and famous Hindu professor. The book is Kalki Avatar. Pundit Vedaprakash Upadhyay is a Hindu Brahmin of Bengali origin. He is a research scholar at Allahabad University. After years of research, he published this book, and no less than eight pundits have endorsed and certified his points of argument as authentic. According to Hindu belief, the Hindu world awaits "the guide and leader", named Kalki Avatar. However, the description as given in the holy scriptures of the Hindu points only to the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) of Arabia. Therefore, the Hindus of the whole world should not wait any longer for the arrival of Kalki Avatar (the spirit) and should readily accept Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) as Kalki Avatar. These are the FACTS verified and supported by eight other eminent pundits. What the author says is that Hindus, who are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of Kalki Avatar, are simply subjecting themselves to never ending pain. Because, such a great messenger has already arrived and departed from this world fourteen centuries ago.

The author produces the following sound evidences from the Vedas and other holy books of the Hindu religion in support of his claim:

    1. In the Puranas (Hindu scriptures), it is stated that Kalki Avatar would be the last messenger of God in this world. He would be for guidance of the whole world and all human beings.

    2. According to a Hindu religion prediction the birth of Kalki Avatar would take place in an isle, which again according to Hindu religion is Arab Region.

    3. In books of Hindus, the names of the father and the mother of Kalki Avatar are given as VISHNUBHAGAT and SUMAANI respectively. If we examine the meaning of these names we shall come to some very interesting conclusion. VISHNU (meaning God) + BHAGAT (meaning Slave). Slave of God = ABDULLAH (in Arabic) is the name of Prophet’s (PBUH) Father.

SUMAANI (meaning peace or calmness).Aamenah (in Arabic means peace) is the name of Prophet’s (PBUH) Mother.

    4. In the religious books of Hindus, it is mentioned that the staple food of Kalki Avatar would be dates and olives and he would be the most honest and truthful person in the region. Without any doubt the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) is acclaimed to possess these qualities.

    5. It is stated in Vedas (holy book of Hindu Religion) that the birth of Kalki Avatar would take place in an honorable clan. This perfectly fits the Quraysh where Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) belonged to.

    6. God would teach Kalki Avatar through His messenger (angel) in a cave. Allah taught Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) through His messenger Jibraeel (Gabriel), in a cave known as Ghaar-e-Hira.

    7. God would provide Kalki Avatar with a very speedy horse to ride and travel the whole world and the seven skies. Indication of burraq (Horse) and Me’raaj (the night when Prophet [PBUH] travelled the seven skies).

    8. God would provide Kalki Avatar with divine help. This was particularly proved in the Battle of Uhud.

    9. Another dazzling account given about Kalki Avatar was that he would be born on the 12th of a month. Whereas the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) was born on the 12th of Rabbi ul Awwal (Hijra Calendar).

    10. Kalki Avatar would be an excellent horse rider and a swordsman.

The author here draws the attention of Hindus that the real days of horses and swords have gone and the present time of guns and missiles. So it would be foolish on the part of those who still expect Kalki Avatar, who should be an excellent rider and swordsman to come. In fact, the divine book, the Holy Qur’an, contains qualities and signs attributed to Kalki Avatar reflecting on the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

How I Came to Islam (Cat Stevens)

All I have to say is what you know already, to confirm what you already know of the message of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) as given by God – the Religion of Truth. As human beings we are given a consciousness and a duty that has placed us at the top to creation. Man is created to be God’s deputy on earth and it is important to realize the obligation to rid ourselves of all illusions and to make our lives a preparation for the next life. Anyone who misses this chance is not likely to be given another, to be brought back again, for it says in the Qur’an Majeed that when man is brought to account, he will say, "O Lord, send us back and give us another chance.’ The Lord will say, ‘If I send you back, you will do the same.’

    My early religious upbringing

I was brought up in the modern world of all the luxury and the highlight of show business. I was born into a Christian home.

We know that every child is born in his original nature, and it is only his parents that turn him to this religion or that. I was given this religion (Christianity) and thought this way. I was taught that God exists, but there was no direct contact with God, so we had to make contact with Him through Jesus, and Jesus was in fact the door to Good. This was more or less accepted by me, but I did not swallow it all.

I looked at some of the statues of Jesus; they were just stones with no life. When they said that God is three, I was puzzled even more but could not argue. I believed it, simply because I had to have respect for the faith of my parents.

    Pop star

Gradually, I became alienated from this religious upbringing, and started making music. I wanted to be a big star. All those things I saw in the films and on the media took h old of me, and perhaps I thought this wa my god: the goal of making money. I had an uncle who had a beautiful car, and I thought "Well, he has it made". He had a lot of money. The people around me influence me tho think that this was it, this world was their God.

I decided then that this was the life for me, to make a lot of money, to have a ‘great life’. My examples were the pop stars, and so I started making songs. But deep down, I had a feeling for humanity, a feeling that if I became rich, I would help the needy. (It says in the Qur’an that we make a promise, but when we make something, we want to hold on to it and become greedy)

So it happened that I became very famous, as a teenager, and my name and photo were splashed in all the media. They made me larger than life, so I wanted to live larger than life, and the only way to do that was to be intoxicated (with liquor and drugs).

    In Hospital

After a year of financial success and ‘high’ living, I became very ill, contracted TB and had to be hospitalized. It was then that I started to think: what was to happen to me? Was I just a body and my goal in life was merely to satisfy this body? I realized now that this calamity was a blessing given to me by Allah, a chance to open my eyes, ‘why am I here, why am I in bed’, and I started looking for some of the answers. At that time there was great interest in great interest in the Eastern mysticism. I began reading and the first thing I began to become aware of was of death, and that the soul moves on, it does not stop. I felt I was taking the road to bliss and high accomplishment. I started meditating and even became a vegetarian. I now believed in ‘peace and flower power’, and this was the general trend. But what I did believe in particular was that I was not just a body, this awareness came to me at the hospital.

One day when I was walking and I was caught in the rain, I began running to the shelter and I realized, ‘wait a minute, my body is getting wet, my body is telling me I am getting wet.’ This made me think of a saying that the body is like a donkey and it has to be trained where it has to go, otherwise the donkey will lead you where it wants to go.

Then I realized I had a will, a God given gift: follow the will of God. I was fascinated by the new terminology I was learning in the Eastern religion. By now I was fed up with Christianity. I started making music again and this time I started reflecting my own thoughts. I remember the lyric of one of my songs. It goes like this: ‘I wish I knew, I wish I knew what makes the Heaven, what makes the Hell, do I get to know You in my bed or some dusty cell while others reach the big hotel/’ and I knew I was on the Path.

I also wrote another song ‘The way to find God out.’ I became even more famous in the world of music. I really had a difficult time because I was getting rich and famous and at the same time I was sincerely searching for the Truth. Then I came to a stage where I decided that Buddhism is alright and noble, but I was not ready to leave the world, I was too attached to the world and was not prepared to become a monk and to isolate myself from society.

I tried Zen and Ching, numerology, tarot cards and astrology. I tried to look back into the Bible, and could not find anything. At this time I did not know anything about Islam, and then, what I regarded as a miracle occurred. My brother had visited the mosque in Jerusalem, and was greatly impressed that while on the one ;had it throbbed with life ( unlike the churches and synagogues which were empty), on the other hand, an atmosphere of peace and tranquility prevailed.

    The Qur’an

When he came to London he brought back a translation of the Qur’an, which he gave to me. He did not become a Muslim, but he felt something in this religion, and thought I might find something in it too.

And when I received the Book, (a guidance that would explain everything to me: who I was, what the purpose of life was, what reality was, and where I came from), I realized that this was the true religion – religion not in the sense the West understands it, not the type foe only your old age. In the West, whoever wishes to embrace a religion and make it his only way of life is deemed a fanatic. I was not a fanatic, I was at first confused between the body and the soul. Then I realized that the body and soul are not apart and you don’t have to go to the mountain to be religious; we must follow the will of God, then we can rise even higher than the angels. The first thing I wanted to do now was to be a Muslim.

I realized that everything belongs to God, that slumber does not overtake Him. He created everything. At this point I began to lose the pride in me, because hereto I had thought the reason I was here was because of my own greatness. But I realized that I did not create myself, and the whole purpose of my being here was to submit to the teaching that has been perfected by the religion we know as Al-Islam. At this point I started discovering my faith. I felt that I was a Muslim, on reading the Qur’an. I now realized that all the Prophets sent by God brought the same message. Why then were the Jews and Christians different? I know now how the Jews did not accept Jesus as the Messiah and that they had changed His Word. Even the Christians misunderstand God’s Word and called Jesus the son of God. Everything made so much sense. This is the beauty of the Qur’an; it asks you to reflect and reason, and not to worship the sun or moon but the One who has created everything. The Qur’an asks man to reflect upon the sun and moon and Good’s creation in general. Do you realize how different the sun is from the moon/ They are at varying distances from the earth, yet appear the same size to us; at times one seems to overlap the other.

Even when many astronauts go t space, they see the insignificant size of the earth and vastness of space, and they become very religious, because they have seen the Signs of Allah.

When I read the Qur’an further, it talked about prayer, kindness and charity. I was not a Muslim yet, but I felt that the only answer for me was the Qur’an, and God had sent it to me and I kept it a secret. But the Qur’an speaks on different levels. I began to understand it on another level, where the Qur’an says "Those who believe don’t take disbelievers for friends and the believers are brothers." Thus at this point I wished to meet my Muslim brothers.

    Conversion

Then I decided to journey to Jerusalem (as my brother had done). At Jerusalem, I went to the mosque and sat down. A man asked me what I wanted. I told him I was a Muslim. He asked what was my name; I told him ‘Stevens’. he was confused. I then joined the prayer though not so successfully.. Back in London, I met a sister called Nafisa. I told her I wanted to embrace Islam and she directed me to the New Regent Mosque. This was in 1977, about 1 1/2 years after I received the Qur’an. Now I realized that I must get rid of my pride, get rid of Iblis and face one direction. So on a Friday, after Jummah I went to the Imam and declared ;my faith (the Kalima) at his hands. You have before you someone who had achieved fame and fortune. But guidance was something that eluded me, no matter how hard I tried, until I was shown the Qur’an. Now I realize I can get direct contact with God, unlike Christianity or any other religion. As one Hindu lady told me, ‘You don’t understand the Hindus, we believe in one God, we use these objects (idols) to merely concentrate.’ What she was saying was that in order to reach God one has to create associates, that are idols for the purpose. But Islam removes all these barriers, the only thing that moves the believers from the disbelievers is the Salat. This is the process of purification. Finally I wish to say that everything I do is for the pleasure of Allah and pray that you gain some inspirations from my experiences. Furthermore I would like to stress that I did not come into contact with any Muslim before I embraced Islam. I read the Qur’an first and realized no person is perfect, Islam is perfect, and if we imitate the conduct of the Holy prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon him), we will be successful. May Allah give us guidance to follow the path of the Ummah of Muhammad ( peace and blessings be upon him). Ameen!

To become a Muslim one must recite the declaration of faith:
    ASH-HADU ANLA ELAHA ILLA-ALLAH WA ASH-HADU ANNA MOHAMMADAN RASUL-ALLAH".

    The English translation is:

"I bear witness that there is no deity (none truely to be worshipped) but, Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammad is the messenger of Allah",

All you have to do to become a Muslims is to say :

”أشهد أن] لا إله إلاَّ الله و [أشهد أن ] محمد رسول الله ]”

”[ʾašhadu ʾan] lā ilāha illā-llāh, wa [ʾašhadu ʾanna] muḥammadan rasūlu-llāh”

"[I testify that] there is no god (ilah) but Allah, and [I testify that] Muhammad is the messenger of Allah."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahadah

When you say this, and you truely mean it with all your heart then you are a Muslim. It’s good if you can say it in a mosque and have some people witness this, but this is optional and not a must. And if your bf has a problem with you becoming a Muslim, and you say that you believe in the ONE God then I say tell your bf he has to deal with it. It’s your choice not his. Also it’ll be nice if you learn more about islam and read the Quran, just so you can make sure, God encourages us in the Quran to study and learn and be sure before we accept information, even if it is about Islam.

You can get a Quran from the nearest Mosque or read it online :

No sweetie i don’t think he will get mad at you , he will support u and love u more and i hope u 2 get married so soon.
anyways, sis u should do this for God , Only God, if u are going to convert truely for GOD whom u believeed in , so U SHOULDN’T care for the consecuences Cuz GOD will help u in it .just be so sincere and faithful ….. :)

    ……………………

to convert to islam you simply say and believe that there is No God except Allah and that Mohammad is his Messenger. Once you say this sentence, you automatically become Muslim. From there, you start carrying on with the duties of Islam. You must do what Allah and His messenger tell you to, and stay away from what they tell you to. Islam does not tell you to do anything unless it is good for you. It also does not tell you to stay away from anything unless it is bad for you. You will notice the change in the way you look at things, the minute you become a Muslim.
To become a Muslim, simply say the following words:

Ash hadu alla ilaha illa Allah, wa ash hadu anna Mohammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu.

This means I testify and witness that there is no god worthy of being worshipped other than Allah and that Mohammad is his Messenger. You must say it and believe in it.

but u really should decide to become Muslim after reading, understanding, and being convinced, then u r greatly rewarded for it in this life and the next. And if that decision encourages others to join Islam too, then the reward is doubled: one portion for your own decision (multiplied many times), and an equal portion for the person you have helped guide to God’s path with reason and gentle advice. If that person is a family member, the reward multiplies even more, since Islam places a great value on family stability and strengthening marital bonds.

you don’t absolutely have to do it publicly. After all, Islam is, first, about your relationship with your Creator and, second, about your relationship with others. However, it is a good idea to pronounce the Shahadah (testimony of faith) before one or more Muslim witnesses—or even by phone or Internet through some Web sites—because there are some legal ramifications in the case of your death, such as issues of burial and inheritance from you. I hope that does not frighten you, but Muslims must always keep in mind that they can die at any minute. None of us has any guarantee that we will live to see tomorrow. And, of course, if you ever get the chance to make Hajj—which I hope you will some day—you might need some documentation that you are Muslim in order to get a visa.

The salah is what distinguishes a Muslim from a non-Muslim, so it is essential that you learn to perform salah as soon as possible. You may have to change your sleeping habits a bit so that you can get up in time for the Fajr (dawn) Prayer, and it might take some ingenuity to find the time or place to pray at work. But it is so vital for your relationship with Allah.
For some the salah seems like a burden, but it only takes a total of perhaps 45 minutes a day. It is also refreshing—physically and spiritually—so it can actually help you to be better in your work; it should never be thought of as a waste of time.

My last piece of advice to you, sister, is not to let yourself be overwhelmed by all the new things you have to learn as a new Muslim. Be easy on yourself—but not lax. Allah doesn’t expect you to change overnight. But be steady (and slow) in your efforts. Improve yourself gradually. Don’t try to suddenly make too many lifestyle changes at one time; especially don’t throw yourself into doing many extra voluntary acts of worship. Learn the essentials, perform the essentials, and then gradually increase.

lastly i wish u best of luck and plz , if u need any thing don’t hesitate to ask.

    THE tribune
    you surprise me
    what are you calling for
    we call that al JAHELIYEH,
pre islam they were warshiping this form of small godess ,statues ,some made of stones or wood or even some were formed by the data itself, were it is mentioned if some felt hungry so he might eat a data of his god
and when they were discussed of "what a shame"
they used to say ,we found our fathers on this religion
and as i read your answer that was your call
    our fathers???
what if your father was wrong?
what if you have more knowledge than your father?
what if god opened your eyes wider?
what if god sent that muslim guy to be ur savior?
try to find out what the difference between god loving and father loving
in islam the love of parents is a part of god loving
the one is the love of god,the minor is the love of any other,
    you other point
he might be changed after marriage
i am not sure what you stating in here

for the purpose of gaining perspective to other people. But now I think, why not have a simular thread in each religous sections, as well as the spiritual section. If all goes well, it would be a good glimps of perspective into someone who believes differently then yourself, as well as a thread for anyone to post their story or their thoughts.

To know the details about Bombay is the first step of Knowledge. To develop the interest to reach Bombay is the second step of devotion. To implement the action of journey to Bombay is the third step of action. The action alone gives result. But, the action without knowledge and devotion will not yield the correct result. You may know the correct details of Bombay and its path, but the action of journey will not start without the interest or devotion. You may have lot of interest but if the knowledge is defective, you will not reach the correct goal even through action. Hence, each one of these three is in-disposable and equally important. Hence all these Satgurus are equally important and are the subsequent steps. These three are the three human incarnations of the same God Guru Datta expressed as Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma in these three forms. The final step is service as preached by Madhva through Lord Hanuman.

The essence of the message of Lord Krishna to the human beings is Bhagavat Gita. Sage Vyasa wrote all the eighteen Puranaas and MahaBharatha, but still he was not having mental peace. It is surprising to see that the Sage Vyasa did not get peace even after composing Gita!! The reason is that the theoretical knowledge does not give any fruit unless it is practiced. Arjuna was not the best example of practice of Gita. Even on the eighteenth day, he was not getting down from the chariot in spite of the instruction from Lord Krishna. He was treating Krishna as a driver only and expected Krishna to get down first and then open the side door of the chariot.

  41. Shahab Says:

To become a Muslim one must believe in their heart, know in their mind and declare with their tongue:

Say either in english: There is none worthy of worship except Allah and Prophet Muhammad is his final Messenger.

    or in Arabic: La-ila-ha-iLLaL-Lah-Muhammad-Dur-Rasool-Allah.

You can say it in arabic or english. But do not delay

  42. Shahab Says:

I’ll say it again. Do not delay converting. It is kufr to delay someone from becoming a Muslim. the person who said that you study first and then become a Muslim, EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE SAID THAT YOU WANT TO BECOME A MUSLIM. THAT PERSON HAS BLASPHEMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
